Laser-Sensor Technology

Technical Vision Inc. is developing innovative laser-based optical imaging technology that represents a significant advance in obstacle recognition for medical and nonmedical uses. The optical sensor system is unique in its ability to inform the visually impaired and blind traveler whether the obstacle ahead in the travel path is rising (e.g. bottom of a staircase, up-curb) or a drop-off (e.g., pothole, down-curbs, top of a staircase) through tactile or acoustical feedback.

Technical Vision’s laser sensor technology will be incorporated into many types of assistive devices including canes, manual and motorized wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and other personal mobility aids.
